A full love tank

I watched our boys play with a sweet friend today in the dirt and gravel in the driveway at the farmhouse. And, for a minute, I forgot how stressed, sweaty, dirty, and tired it all made me and saw the potential again. It ebbs and flows in life events like this. You get caught up in what you’re leaving behind, the scary unknown parts ahead, and all the fatigue of making it happen and you can forget to see the potential that you saw in the beginning. And then life sneaks you a glimpse of kids who are perfectly happy without television, cell phone games, and technology in a place like this. Kids with dirt in every crevice and briar scratches and imagination overflowing because they’ve been let out into a big new world.

Today there was no whining about the mosquitos, the heat, or the boredom. There was just a settling in to good, dirty fun with sweet friends. And castle building in driveway dirt and hide and seek and I spy and fun with sticks. And it was good. And we’ll all sleep well tonight now that we’re all cleaned up, bellies full, and our cups runneth over.

Thanks for a great day Catherine, Chris, and Maddie! Our love tanks are full today!
